Douglas’s photographs create surprise and narrative mystery
by juxtaposing unusual elements within a familiar domestic space,
whether it be interior or exterior. Working primarily with black
& white composition, Mr. Douglas uses color strategically to
enhance the visual impact and aesthetic surprise of each piece.
He is also an accomplished painter, and this background comes through
in the way each photograph is built up in layers, like a painting,
