Gwen
Wong's pictorial statements engage the eye through subtle transitions,
textures and color. Realizing the importance of edge control as
a painter, she is aware of how one brushstroke can effect another.
If there are too many strokes, the strength of a single stroke can
be lost in smoothness. It is important for her to maximize the effectiveness
of her paint strokes when interpreting a subject and uses them to
convey the emotion. When painting a full range of subjects, Gwen's
prefers the figure. The challenge of recreating human emotion is
as complex psychologically to the expressive painter, as well as
the technician. |
